I have talked to my neighbor (Travis) who has been all over Iowa because for his job they send him throughout the state.  "Iowa has a lot of different and unique places to visit" is what he always went back to throughout the questions I asked him.  I thought talking to Travis helped with our project because Madi and I are trying to show that Iowa isn't has boring as everyone thinks there is many places to visit.   Talking to Travis got me more information than I would have gotten from an article because he told me every detail about his many trips and if I would've looked through articles they would have just given the best parts. Talking to different people about their thoughts about what Iowa really is could be good for our ted talk because it could end up as a "They Say," "I Say" kind of run down.   Like how people say "Iowa is just corn and fields" but we are going to show that is much more than that you just got to be willing to get up and travel.   The final step in our project is for us to travel to more places and if everything goes to plan our final product will a video blog of all the places we have went.

 With our 20 time project we are keep going on the track we are now because it is working very well for us. We have our list of places to visit and eat and the only problem is finding a time where both of us are free because between Madi’s cheer and my work schedule we never have the same day free. We are excited to see our final product and how we get to look at all the places we will visit that we have never been before. For our “hook” in the 20 time project I think it will be when we show how many people think Iowa is boring and just fields but we are going to show that there actually are a lot of places in Iowa that most people don’t know about. Like some of these places we are going I have never heard of before but I think that is the thing that will make it fun to talk about.

Many people that live or have visited Iowa think it is a very boring state, Madi and I are going to show that Iowa isn’t just corn and that there is many good places to visit and to eat. One of the articles I choose to support us talked about how you can get your kids up and out of the house.

The first part of the article talked about how you should try to give you child a reward when they have done something.  Later on down the page they begin to go against giving your children rewards because they can’t grow up thinking that every time they do something good they will get a reward. Also Dr Kennedy-Moore brings up that just because you give your child a reward doesn’t mean that their behavior will change on the spot or even at all. Dr Kennedy-Moore also talks about how you need to show interest in the little things your child does. Such has the child waking up to their own alarm and getting ready for school on their own so you don’t feel rushed in the morning.

I think that kids should have to go out and do things they shouldn’t just stay inside and do nothing.  Many kids nowadays like to just hang out inside and play video games and play on their phones but there’s always time for that, but when the sun is out and it beautiful outside they should drop all that and go outside. I really want to push kids to go outside more because I love being outside like during the summer i’m always outside. My family goes camping all the time, go to lost island, adventure-land, etc.

Week 1 Blog Post

Blog week 1

 Proposal

For our 20-time we are going to go around Iowa to all the different attractions and show what there is to do in Iowa. Our plan is to look up all sorts of different attractions and make a list of all the ones we find interesting.  Then we are going to get some other friends and go visit. Also we are either going to take pictures while we are there or we are going to take a video of us there.  One question we got from one of our classmates was "How many places we plan on going to?" we aren't for sure how many we are going to do yet. Another question that was brought to our attention was "What are we going to do during class time?" We will look up new attractions, put our pictures and videos together after we visit a place. I'm excited to do this project because while doing some research about attractions I found that there is a lot in Iowa that I have either never been to our never even heard of.
